Matanga — the elephant

Matanga is Sanskrit for elephant: strength, memory and patience. The name also honours Matanga Muni, the ancient music scholar who wrote the Brihaddeshi, and Matanga Rishi, whose hermitage sheltered Shabari in the Ramayana.

Made in India

MATANGA is a small family enterprise in India. We make and gather handmade Indian crafts: handloom textiles and clothing, lamps, wood and metal work, home decor and natural oil attars.

Everything is made the slow way, by hand, in wood, brass, clay, thread, glass and attar.

Kabira Collection

Our first drop, the Kabira Collection by MATANGA, is soft cotton clothing for kids from 6 months to 10 years, plus baby play mats.
